We’re celebrating Earth Day during the entire month of April by offering free admission from Saturday, April 1st – Sunday, April 30th! This means Blandford’s trails will be open at no cost from dawn to dusk daily, and the Mary Jane Dockeray Visitor Center will be open at no cost Monday-Saturday from 9 am- 5 pm.

Visitors of all ages will have access to 264 acres of forests, meadows, and wetlands, 8 miles of trails including 1 mile of ADA accessible trails, 2 outdoor playscapes, the Blandford Farm and Children’s Garden, and our Wildlife Education Center with over 40 rehabilitated wildlife ambassadors. Please note that our Wildlife Education Center may be off-limits during different times of the day due to programming, feeding, and staff training. As part of Admission Free April, we are also offering a variety of free programming throughout the month! Visit our Community Calendar for more information on our upcoming program opportunities.

Wildlife Ambassadors

Blandford’s Wildlife Education Center is home to many rehabilitated animals that are no longer able to survive in the wild. These wildlife ambassadors participate in educational programming and reach thousands of students and families in West Michigan every year!

Land Conservancy of West Michigan and The Highlands

Blandford Nature Center and the Land Conservancy of West Michigan collaborated on the purchase of the 121-acre former Highlands Golf Club in Grand Rapids in the winter of 2017 with a vision to transform the property into a natural area for community recreation, nature preservation, and land conservation.
