I am originally from New Mexico and moved to Grand Rapids 17 years ago. My family and I are active volunteers with the West Michigan Land Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy and Michigan Nature Association. Being volunteers with such great organizations makes giving more enjoyable. Outside of work, I am a Cake Decorator and Massage Therapist. As the first person to greet visitors, it is moving to see the children walk through the front doors with their eyes wide open and seeing the expression on their faces as they come here for the first time. Working at Blandford Nature Center has been a wonderful experience for me. I have a warm sense and enjoyment working with the older volunteers and hearing the stories they like to share. Since working here, my family has become more involved in BNC working with classmates and making new friends while volunteering. Blandford Nature Center is not just a place of employment but the home of our wildlife and it is our job to help protect them and keep them safe.
