Designed just for homeschool families and families with preschoolers, Nature in Action is a series of 2 hour monthly sessions which offer children ages four to eleven the opportunity to explore science and social studies concepts first hand. Based on your feedback we have made a few adjustments for the 2012-2013 school year. We have extended the class time to give students a chance for deeper exploration of nature as well as adjusting the age groups to better fit your needs. For parents looking to supplement preschool, we also offer preschool age only sessions on the third Mondays of the months.
Outdoor, seasonally-based sessions foster:
- Skill building
- Critical thinking
- Appreciation for the natural world
- Social relationships
Nature in Action helps children explore their natural environment in a hands-on learning experience. Three age groups are offered to appropriately engage and challenge learners:
- Acorns: Four to five years old
- Sprouts: six to eight years old
- Mighty Oaks: ages nine to eleven years old.
Age group is determined by student age as of October 1, 2012.
- Students ages 12 + can volunteer as program aides during any session.
Cost for each session is $10 per student for Members, and $15 for non-members. Members can save an additional 10% by signing up for the complete series by September 9, 2012.

Register Now - Two great ways to join the outdoor learning fun!
To have your child engage and learn through Nature in Action, you may register online, or download the registration form and mail it in with your payment. Mail completed form with your payment to 1715 Hillburn Ave. NW Grand Rapids, MI 49504. Completed forms may also be faxed to 616-735-6255.
For online registration: click on the link and fill out the on-line form. Once you have filled out and submitted the on-line form, our registrar will contact you via email within a few days to confirm your registration. Payment is due within two weeks of the registrar confirming with you.
Please note that the afternoon sessions for Preschoolers only (third Monday of every month) has been closed due to low registration. All other sessions are still available.
