Becky Brown
Volunteer Coordinator
Greetings! I am excited to introduce myself as Blandford’s Volunteer
and Intern Coordinator. I have been living in Grand Rapids
for five years after growing up on the east side of the state, near Flint.
I came to Grand Rapids to become a
part of the tremendous environmental movement that has been going on here for
decades. Blandford is so important in this movement because it helps visitors
make an emotional connection with the natural world. I love being outdoors,
camping in Michigan State Parks, hiking, swimming in the Great Lakes,
and playing Ultimate Frisbee and Disc Golf. I started volunteering when I was young
through the Girl Scouts and then eventually through my school. One of my
favorite volunteer experiences was helping restore a wetland on old farm land.
It was fun, muddy, and in only a few months, we began to see the wetland
flourish. I want volunteers to have a fun, educational, and satisfying
experience; they are crucial to Blandford's success, and I really admire all of
those who have given their time Blandford. Every hour makes a huge difference. Feel
free to call me or send me an e-mail, I would love to talk to you - I look
forward to seeing you out here!
